    Dr. Sheila Embleton, FRSC, is Distinguished Research Professor of Linguistics at York University, Toronto, and a former president of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. Her interest in India stems from her time serving as Vice-President Academic and Provost at York University (2000-2009).
